Partnering with local restaurant, Downtown Chandler Cafe & Bakery, C4C curated a creative evening event for goal building and collage making. We enjoyed catered a snack buffet provided by the cafe while artist, Wavvy Kiwi, discussed the importance of journaling for mental health and self expression, along with alternative ways to go about the process. Each attendee received a goodie bag including an empty journal and other related gifts. Wavvy Kiwi gave a guide for brainstorming a future we may want to work towards, while helping us simplify those goals into words for inspiration while creating a collage on the new journal.
We learned looking at our goals with physicality it makes them feel more tangible to us as well, and that journaling can be more than just words on a paper but whatever we want to charish, dive deeper into, or let go of. Thank you to all who attended and made something creative.
Local Latin Cuisine, Achiote, hosted and catered an evening of Arepas, guided painting by tattoo shop owner and artist, Angie Zapata, and a book reading by ASU Professor Dr. Rafael Martinez titled, "Illegalized". We came together to celebrate Hispanic heritage with an art lesson on sugar skulls for Dias de los Muertos, and having freshly made and catered arepas from a friendly local resturant was the perfect addition for our creative side to flow into the night. Thank you to everyone who came out for art and arepas!
Chandler4Change and the Baha'is of Chandler sponsors the Walk 4 Unity, formally known as Race 4 Unity.
Walk 4 Unity was created in 2018, known as Race 4 Unity, to connect with other religions and communites in a non-judgemental space. The goal of the event is to provide a safe and entertaining environment for communities and cultures coming together. Each year, the Walk4Unity team picks a local community organization to highlight and raise donations. We have worked to donate to organizations such as ICAN, My Sister's Place, and others; working alongside organizations and individuals such as the Phoenix United Nations, ASU Chandler Innovation Center, Mayor Kevin Hartke, Vice Mayor Christine Ellis, and many more.

FOR OUR CITY Day Chandler is an annual event that brings volunteers and residents together to build community and instill neighborhood pride. For the past 11 years, volunteers have painted homes, weeded yards, and cleaned up neighborhoods on the last Saturday in October (National Make a Difference Day). The event serves traditional neighborhoods on the brinkd of decline and is coordinated by Neighborhood Programs staff with assistance from the For Our City Day Planning Committee comprised of community partners and City staff. This year as we celebrate 12 years of serving our communities, we are planning a huge celebration in the neighborhood park, where hundreds will attend.
